• 🎥 Episode 2 with A&O Shearman is set to be filmed in the coming weeks.

• 🧘 Upcoming Wellbeing Pilates event with HSFK on 27 May promoted to members.

• 🎬 Charity Movie Night fundraiser for Women’s Legal Service currently in planning, with marketing launching soon.

• 💰 Charity Quiz Night was a great success, raising significant funds through ticket sales.

• 🚶 Walk for Justice taking place next Tuesday at the Bell Tower.

• 💼 Careers Fair wrap-up and thanks extended to volunteers for their support.

April Meeting

• ❓ Charity Quiz Night announced for 15 April at The Loft (Sir Walter’s), with prizes to be revealed through upcoming marketing.

• 🎙️ Upcoming podcast episode currently in production and set to release soon.

• 💼 Careers Fair preparations underway, with 26 firms attending and the event relocated to the Murdoch Gym due to weather conditions.

• 🚗 Careers team organising parking permits and seeking committee volunteers for event setup.

• 🎟️ Final release of Law Ball tickets scheduled for Friday.

• ⚖️ Witness Examination Grand Final confirmed for 29 April at Ashurst Offices.

• 🏛️ Moot Grand Final scheduled for 23 April at the Supreme Court (or HCF if required).

March Meeting

The March meeting was held on 9th of March . It was chaired by our President, Joie Ng and minutes were recorded by our Secretary Rebecca Yates. Items of discussion included;

• 🏛️ President attended the Dean’s External Advisory Board meeting, with discussions focused on the upcoming 25 March event.

• ⚖️ MSLS executive approved affiliation with ALSA’s problem question bank initiative.

• 🎓 Volunteers sought for Murdoch Open Day mock trial presentations on 28 March.

• 🧠 Committee members invited to participate in Curtin SLS’ Intervarsity Quiz Night.

• 💰 Treasurer provided account updates, confirmed party bus payment, and advised committee invoices for Ball tickets had been sent.

• ☕ Café operations updates included new stock orders, barista training for members, and implementation of a cleaning checklist.

The February meeting was held on 16th of February . It was chaired by our President, Joie Ng and minutes were recorded by our Secretary Rebecca Yates. Items of discussion included;

• Discussions surrounding:

  • 🎉 Preparations underway for Law & Crim O-Day, with rosters released and further information to be circulated prior to the event.

  • 🏕️ Committee support requested for Campus Kick-Off stall operations on 26 February.

  • 💰 Treasurer provided account updates, including ongoing Wine Tour payments and Ball-related invoices.

  • ☕ Café updates included stock orders, upcoming café shift sign-ups, and new reimbursement/card procedures.

  • 🎙️ Podcast collaborations with A&O Shearman and Bennett currently being organised, with recordings expected in the coming months.

  • ❓ Charity Quiz Night planned for Semester One.

  • 🤝 Alumni Networking Evening scheduled for 6 March with Bennett Law, with marketing and alumni invitations underway.

January Meeting

The January meeting was held on 30th of January . It was chaired by our President, Joie Ng and minutes were recorded by our Secretary Rebecca Yates. Items of discussion included;

• 💳 Motion passed to order a bank card linked to TA’s (Treasurers) account to support financial operations.

• 🎟️ Committee members granted free memberships.

• 🎓 Reminder issued to attend the First Year Event on 23 February (11:30am), sponsored and strongly encouraged for support.

• 💰 Socials update confirmed the Law Ball venue contract has been signed with the first deposit paid.

• 🍸 Socials planning discussed including:

  • Two-stop Wine Tour format (City + Campus) confirmed

  • Introduction of optional pre-purchased drink tokens (no cost to MSLS)

  • Venue polling finalised for second stop (“Collector of Souls” selected)

  • Budget breakdown for Wine Tour including bus deposit, drink tokens, and venue pre-authorisation buffer

• 🏆 Motion passed approving $2,500 expenditure for Socials Wine Tour event (14/14).

December Meeting

The December meeting was held on 10th of December . It was chaired by our President, Joie Ng and minutes were recorded by our Secretary Rebecca Yates. Items of discussion included;

• 📬 Prospectus to be finalised and distributed prior to 16 December.

• 💰 Treasurer provided account updates, with strong balances across cheque, café, and online saver accounts, alongside reminders to minimise personal reimbursements and coordinate purchases through directors.

• 🎓 Secretary confirmed upcoming focus on 2026 committee memberships, with free memberships to be issued to committee members.

• 🎙️ Education update noted two outstanding podcast episodes still in production.

• 📊 Careers team circulated a member feedback survey to gather insights and improve future offerings.

• 🎉 Socials team thanked committee members for attendance at end-of-year event and presented Law Ball planning updates, including:

  • Venue selection (Aloft Hotel) and confirmed package pricing

  • Photography, DJ, lighting, and decorations budget outlined

  • Discussion of buffet-style catering preference

  • Overall Ball budget proposal up to $35,000 for approval
